Dunwoody is located in Dekalb County officially, but "old timers" also consider areas north of the Chattahoochee River and some areas of Sandy Springs to be known as "Dunwoody", due to supposed boundaries of the past which were in Fulton County.
Dunwoody has large shopping, office and commercial developments and is a major job center employing thousands of people. Perimeter Mall is also located in Dunwoody.
The area has single-family residential areas and many new apartments. Subdivisions and neighborhoods include Georgetown, Chateau Woods, North Springs, Village Mill, Kingsley, Brooke Farm, Cedar Chase, Winters chapel, Tilly Mill, Dunwoody North, Shenandoah Estates and Dunwoody Trails.
Meticulously kept parks and community centers abound in Dunwoody and many people who want to live close to Atlanta choose to live in this nearby community.
